Dances for a Small Stage 22

BALLET BC MEETS INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHERS

Two Vancouver powerhouses come together for one of the most thrilling dance events of the 2010 season.

From June 16-18, 2010, Dances for a Small Stage and Ballet British Columbia collaborate in three evenings of contemporary dance that will electrify audiences and span the globe.

The 22nd incarnation of Dances for a Small Stage—the popular series renowned for bringing boundary-pushing contemporary dance to a rough-and-tumble cabaret setting—unites the versatile Dancers from Ballet BC with international choreographers-
Cherice Barton (USA)
Lauri Stallings (USA)
Farley Johansson (Germany)

As well as Canadians-
Margie Gillis
Gioconda Barbuto
Donald Sales
Cori Caulfield
Edmond Kilpatrick

Since its inception, Dances for a Small Stage has wowed audiences by tearing down formalities and creating intimate, raw scenarios in which to experience dance—and Dances for a Small Stage 22 ups the ante, according to MovEnt Artistic Producer Julie-anne Saroyan. “Dances for a Small Stage will take audiences up close and personal with the compelling dancers from Ballet BC,” says Saroyan. “They’ll experience both companies in a new, exciting way.” And Ballet BC Artistic Director Emily Molnar knows the experience of performing on the small stage will be an enlivening one for her dancers. “This unique collaboration will enrich and develop the dancers artistically.  I am excited to watch the dancers experiment in a new and more alternative venue.” says Molnar.

Dances for a Small Stage 22 touches down at The Legion on the Drive (2205 Commercial Drive at East 6th Avenue, second floor) for three nights beginning June 16, 2010.
Doors open at 7:00pm and the performance begins at 8:00pm.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door (cash only).
