2010 was an important watermark for Ballet BC. April 2010 marked the re-launch of the company with a triumphant return to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre with Re/Naissance. We were thrilled by the audience’s response and by the groundswell of support building around the company. In December you may have read in the Vancouver Sun that Ballet BC’s fall QET performance was selected as Vancouver’s best arts performance of 2010 — a shining accolade for the renewed company.
2011 promises to be no less exciting with numerous world and Vancouver premiere performances by Ballet BC, and of course our presentation in March 2011 of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
All of this outstanding dance comes at a cost and ticket sales cover less than half of our annual operating expenses. For the rest, we rely on contributions from private groups, public funders and generous individuals like you. Through last year’s highly successful Spring Campaign, we were very grateful to have patrons respond with over $300,000 in contributions. This year we aim to exceed the $300,000 achieved in the 2010 campaign.
