Canadas Royal Winnipeg Ballet displays its classical roots with the Vancouver premiere of Svengali, choreographed by Mark Godden — the creative genius behind RWBs acclaimed Dracula. Set in a decadent world reminiscent of mid-century Weimar, the ballet presents an explosive new look at the original master of mind control. A gripping storyline fuels this complex psychological drama, unfolding with powerful athleticism and world-class artistry. Svengali is performed to a mesmerizing score featuring Rachmaninov, Liszt, Richard Strauss, Philip Glass, and the Amsterdam Klezmer Band.
